My therapist encouraged me to create a statement of faith to determine what I value and where I stand spiritually. I’m not sure of a lot right now, but I do believe that God loves me unconditionally.
This means that, according to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8…
God is patient with me and kind to me.
God isn’t rude or easily angered.
God doesn’t tally up every way I’ve messed up.
God always protects me, trusts me to live up to my calling, hopes that I’ll do the right thing, and won’t give up on me.
God never fails.
According to Romans 8:37-39, God won’t let anything change the way he perceives me, including my future mistakes.
According to Zephaniah 3:17, God delights in me.
According to 1 John 3:1, God calls me his child.
I’m sure I’ll add to this as I move forward with building a sturdy spiritual foundation, but this is a good starting point. And something I needed to hear today.
